Industrial Suspended Magnetic Separator: High-Gradient Ferrous Metal Recovery
Introduction to Overbelt Magnetic Separation:
The Suspended Self-cleaning Magnetic Separator is a critical component in automated waste sorting lines, specifically engineered to extract and recover ferromagnetic materials from bulk conveyed streams. Positioned above the conveyor belt, this equipment utilizes a high-gradient magnetic field to “lift” iron contaminants—ranging from small nails (0.1kg) to heavy steel scraps (35kg)—ensuring downstream shredders and crushers are protected from damage.
Our magnetic separation solutions are designed to withstand harsh industrial environments, providing a reliable foundation for MSW (Municipal Solid Waste), C&D (Construction and Demolition) waste, and Bulky Waste processing.

Working Principle: Continuous Cross-Belt Separation
In a typical Turnkey MSW Sorting Plant, the magnetic separator is installed cross-belt or in-line above the discharge pulley.
-
Extraction: As mixed waste passes under the magnetic field, ferrous metals are instantly attracted to the separator’s belt.
-
Discharge: The integrated motor-driven discharge belt continuously carries the attracted metal away from the magnetic zone.
-
Collection: The recovered metal falls into a dedicated collection hopper for secondary sale or recycling, while the cleaned non-ferrous material continues along the main conveyor.
Critical Applications in Waste Management
While magnetic separation is used in many industries, our equipment is specifically optimized for high-volume waste recovery:
-
MSW & RDF Production: Removing ferrous contaminants to increase the purity and calorific value of Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF).
-
C&D Waste Recycling: Recovering reinforcement bars (rebars) and steel fragments from crushed concrete and brick debris.
-
Bulky Waste Shredding: Pre-sorting large ferrous components to protect industrial shredders from catastrophic blade failure.
-
Industrial Scrap Purification: Ensuring the removal of tramp iron from secondary raw materials.
Technical Advantages for Project Owners
-
High-Intensity Magnetic Field: Computer-simulated magnetic circuit design ensures deep-field penetration, capable of capturing iron from thick material layers on high-speed conveyors.
-
Continuous Self-Cleaning: The automated iron-discharging belt eliminates the need for manual cleaning, enabling 24/7 continuous operation in high-throughput facilities.
-
Robust Construction: Built with high-coercivity permanent magnetic chips (NdFeB or Ferrite) that maintain magnetic stability for over 10 years without energy consumption for the magnetic field itself.
-
Seamless System Integration: Modular frame design allows for easy retrofitting into existing belt conveyor systems or integration into new EPC-level sorting projects.
