Project Location: Yongzhou, Hunan Province, China Waste Type: Mixed Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Key Objective: High-purity separation of inert minerals and combustible fractions for zero-landfill goals.
The Challenge of Heterogeneous C&D Waste
Managing construction debris at a municipal scale requires more than simple crushing. The core challenge in the Yongzhou project was the high level of contamination within the raw input—a mixture of heavy concrete, bricks, and stones intermingled with light plastics, wood, and textiles. To transform this debris into high-value secondary raw materials, a precise separation logic was implemented to ensure downstream material purity.
Technical Process & Material Valorization
The sorting line at the Yongzhou site utilizes a multi-stage mechanical separation process to divert over 90% of incoming waste from landfills.
1. Combustible Light Fractions (Energy Recovery)
After the automated air separation and screening process, light fractions such as plastics, wood, and textiles are isolated.
-
Processing: These materials are baled for efficient logistics.
-
End-use: Transported to specialized Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants as high-calorific alternative fuel. This thermal recovery process reduces the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels while providing a carbon-neutral energy source for local grids.
2. Inert Mineral Fractions (Aggregate Production)
The heavy mineral stream, consisting primarily of concrete, old bricks, and river stones, undergoes secondary processing through specialized impact crushers and vibrating screens.
-
Output: High-quality Recycled Aggregates and Recycled Sand.
-
Applications:
-
On-site Brick Manufacturing: Aggregates are used as the primary raw material for high-strength pavement bricks.
-
Road Construction: Utilized as sub-base and base-course materials.
-
New Construction Supplies: Serving as a sustainable replacement for virgin river sand and quarried stone.
-
Operational Stability & Output Purity
The success of the Yongzhou facility is defined by its consistent throughput and the low contamination levels of its outputs. By integrating magnetic separators to remove ferrous metals and density separators to isolate organics early in the flow, the site ensures that the inert minerals are clean enough for immediate industrial reuse.
The mechanical infrastructure provided by Henan Guoxin Machinery focuses on high-wear resistance and PLC-controlled stability, ensuring the plant operates with minimal downtime even when handling abrasive mineral debris.
